The Company Fratelli Solari was founded in Pesariis, a small town in the Carnia region in Friuli, specialising in tower clock and wall clock manufacturing.
Contrasts within the family prompted the brothers Remigio and Fermo Solari to relocate to Udine and to set up a new company, which established itself on the market for the production of watches, clocking terminals and public information displays for train stations and airports.

The Cifra 5 clock, the first of many projects designed by Gino Valle, won the Compasso d’Oro award.In the same year the first railway information di-splay system in the world was created at Liegi train station.
Solari won the Compasso d’Oro award a second time, thanks to Alphanumeric Teleindicators for airports and railway stations, designed by Gino Valle and adopted by Eero Saarinen for the design of the TWA Terminal at the J. F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

The entrepreneur Massimo Paniccia acquired the ownership of the company, renewing, in accordance with the company’s values, its commitment to design clocks as well as public information terminals and displays.In the same year Gino Valle won the Compasso d’Oro for his career.
The new Solari company acquired the historic Fratelli Solari company, completing the reunification of the two companies.

Solari made its debut on the big screen in Steven Spielberg’s “The Terminal”, designing a custom display for the cinematic production.
Solari Corp., a company in the Solari group operating on the US market, was established.

The company won a contract for the supply of 800 public information di-splays with TFT/LED technology for New Delhi airport.
Solari has installed about 3000 systems of various types worldwide, which confirms its outright leadership position on the interna-tional market.

Solari brings Italian design inside the most anticipated hotel in the world, the TWA Hotel. About 34.000 elements were assembled by hand, to reproduce the unmistakable sound that every passenger can recognize in airports and stations throughout the world.
Solari renovates its production plants of Udine and Pesariis; it renovates the rooms and increased the energy efficiency. It implemented the lean production thanks to the renovation of the production area, of the test laboratories and electronic board production areas, beside the installation of an authomatized warehouse.
